Coconut Shell as a Nursery Pot: A Sustainable Idea That Didn’t Fully Work
Instead of using nursery poly coversโฆ
why not try coconut shells? ๐ฅฅ
It sounded like a good idea.
Before saying this is a perfect solution,
there are few things in my mind to consider ๐
โ Decomposing of tender coconut shells may take several months or even up to a year.
โก Until decomposition, plant growth may be affected.
Root growth happens daily, but the inner radius of the shell is only around 3โ4 cm.
After some time, root growth gets restricted โ and plant growth slows down.
โข Not all plants and tree saplings will suit this method.

People drink tender coconut waterโฆ
Some were drink, cut and the flesh (เฎตเฎดเฏเฎเฏเฎเฏ) was eaten,
some were not opened.
Collect all those shells and cut them into two halves.
Placed seeds/saplings inside, filled soil, and tied them together.

But later, during planting, the real issue started.
Because of slow decomposition,
we had to remove the thread, split the shell if needed,
and plant along with the same soil.

This may not be a perfect solution for all plants.
But stillโฆ
it is a small step towards reducing plastic in farming. ๐ฟ
